Happy International Day of the Midwife!

You can't do this work for very many years without meeting some incredible, strong, fierce women along the way. As I reflect on my 17 years in this profession I can't even count how many amazing midwives I have met (and that doesn't even account for the midwives for my own babies)! No two personalities alike, yet all passionate for families to have options and choices in their pregnancy journey.

Most of us chug coffee like it's going out of style (until it tries to kill us), sleep in odd positions, still cry over losses and celebrate the addition of life.

Durimg every birth, Midwives hold space for the sacred passage unfolding, knowing the journey is hard but so worth it.

So I say thank you to all you incredible midwives I have the honor of calling friends, co-workers or mentors over the years. Each and every one of you are incredible and my life would be dull without your presence!

What IS a Midwife anyway?

I don't know if there is as much confusion surrounding other professions as I hear about with Midwifery. Are we Doula's? OB's? Hippies...
